How Do You Make a Mega Volume Fan?
Mega volume fans created with 0.03 diameter extensions require precision and proper technique. Due to their ultra-fine weight, 0.03 lashes allow for larger fans while maintaining safety when applied correctly. Selecting high-quality lashes designed for fanning is essential to achieving consistent results.
When using 0.03 diameter extensions, up to 16 lashes may be used per fan, depending on the natural lash's strength and health. However, larger fans are not always appropriate. The length and overall weight of the extensions must be suitable for your client's natural lashes to prevent strain, premature shedding, or breakage.
Fan Creation Process:
- Pick up the desired number (up to 16) from the strip using volume tweezers. Avoid overloading the fan, as excessive weight can compromise retention and lash health.
- Gently pinch the base of the lashes to control the fan shape. A wider fan will create a softer, fluffier appearance, while a newer fan will product a denser, darker look.
- Dip the base of the fan lightly into adhesive, ensuring a clean, controlled amount of product.
- Apply the fan to a properly isolated natural lash. Maintain precise isolation to prevent lashes from adhering to one another.
Mega volume applications are best suited for clients with strong, healthy natural lashes. A thorough assessment of the client's lash health is required prior to application to determine whether mega volume is appropriate and to ensure long-term lash integrity.
How Much Glue Do I Need to Use?
A common mistake among beginner lash artists is using excessive adhesive. Applying too much glue can add unnecessary weight to the fan, place strain on the natural lash, and create a clumped or bulky appearance.
To maintain proper balance and retention, only a small amount of adhesive should be used. The base of the fan should be dipped no more than approximately 2 mm into the adhesive to ensure a clean, lightweight application.
