HOW TO INCORPORATE COLORED LASHES

HOW TO INCORPORATE COLORED LASHES

Colored lash extensions are a great way to offer clients something unique while showcasing your creativity as a lash artist. Whether your client wants a subtle pop of color or a bold look, the key is thoughtful placement. Instead of replacing an entire black lash set, strategically incorporating colored lashes can add dimension, enhance eye color, and create a customized design your client will love!

Plan Your Placement

Before picking up your tweezers, decide where the color will have the greatest impact. Mapping your placement zones beforehand helps create a balanced, intentional look.

Some popular placement techniques to consider include:

  • Outer corners: Add color only to the outer edge, creating subtle cat-eye effect.
  • Top layer highlights: Place colored spikes or fans throughout the top layer so the color is visible from above.
  • Ombre effect: Blend from darker lashes near the inner eye to brighter colors toward the outer corner for a smooth transition.
  • Bottom layer placement: Hide colored lashes beneath the top layer for a peek of color that appears naturally when the client blinks.

These techniques allow you to customize the amount of color based on your client's comfort level.

Make the Color Stand Out

Placement is only part of the design. Choosing the right products and lash lengths helps ensure the color remains vibrant.

For the brightest results, use a clear lash adhesive, as black adhesive can mute lighter or pastel shades. When adding colored lashes, consider using extensions that are the same length as your black lashes or up to 1 mm longer so the color is more noticeable.

For fuller looks, mix 7D–10D colored volume fans throughout the set or incorporate colored spikes to add texture and dimension without overwhelming the design.

Customize Every Set

During the consultation, ask your client how bold they want their lashes to be. Some clients may only want a few colored accents, while others may love vibrant, full-color designs.

You can also recommend colors based on eye color, seasonal trends, holidays, or special events. For example, blues and purples create a fun mermaid inspired look, while warmer shades can complement fall inspired sets.

Elevate Your Lash Artistry

Colored lash extensions are an easy way to expand your service offerings and give clients a truly customized experience. With proper mapping, thoughtful placement, and the right adhesive and lash lengths, you can create everything from subtle pops of color to bold statement sets that help your work stand out!
